Hiring Incentive Program Offered

The Forsyth County 911 Center is offering hiring incentives for new communications officers! The following incentive plan for Communication Officers includes:

  • $1,500 signing bonus for new employees with no training upon promotion to Communications Officer II
  • $2,000 signing bonus for new employees who are already Georgia POST certified upon completion of the first level of training

Job Details

One in this position must be able to:

  • Answers multiple telephone lines
  • Maintain effective, consistent communication with persons requesting emergency and non-emergency assistance while obtaining/verifying essential information
  • Clearly relay information for dispatch or transfer calls appropriately
  • Take appropriate action when presented with a routine call or a stressful life/death situation
  • Remain calm under all circumstances
  • Give caller pre-arrival instructions and provide comfort until assistance arrives (re-establish calls in the event of a 911 hang-up or disconnection)
  • Maintain status of police, fire, EMS and other responding units at all times to ensure safety of personnel involved, including those working accidents, fires and hazardous incidents, as well as those on breaks
  • Perform administrative support tasks as required

Hours

Persons interested in this position must be able to work shift work. Emergency 911 Centers operate 24/7 including holidays and weekends. Specific shifts cannot be determined until time of hire.

Pay After Training (Communications Officer III)

Hourly Rate: $19.71

Base: $38,946.96

Automatic Overtime: $6,149.52

Total: $45,096.48

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; no previous experience or training required
  • Successfully pass a background investigation, including a polygraph and psychological evaluation
  • Obtain a GA P.O.S.T certification
  • Type at least 35 words per minute
  • Be willing to work all shifts
  • Have the aptitude to deal well with stressful situations
